AI (Artificial Intelligence) in Injection Moulding - The Future of Machine Learning
Dr. Thorsten Thümen / Senior Director Technology / Sumitomo (SHI) Demag
-
Brief overview of Global Market trends in Injection Moulding, Growth Areas, Materials and Processing Trends.
-
Exploring the advantages and challenges of implementing Machine Learning (ML) techniques in a smart factory environment. The enabling technologies which allow the implementation of ML in the factory – OPC-UA etc. The methods and techniques to model the process, the advantages and drawbacks of where the modelling work is performed (on the machine or separately).
-
Looking at how AI can help with optimizing the injection process to deliver higher quality and output, while at the same time reducing the requirement for the intervention of skilled staff.
-
An explanation of the enabling technologies and techniques which make this possible, as well as considering the problems and pitfalls.
Challenges and solutions of recycled plastics in injection moulding
Dipl.-Ing. Günther Klammer / Vice President Plasticising Systems & Recycling / Engel
New Technologies and process optimization gives opportunities in the usage of recycling materials. The lecture gives answers to the following questions: Which kind of recycling plastics can be used in injection moulding? Which technologies are available for processing of recycling materials on an injection moulding machine? How to increase the amount of recycling material and the recyclability of a product? A prospective of recycled Material in the injection moulding business will be given.
Managing Digital Solutions and how digitalisation supports the circular economy
Benjamin Franz / Manager Digital Solutions / Arburg
Stephan Reich / Head of IT Application Development
The moulding industry faces a big challenge in respect to implementing digitalisation, but what exactly is it?
To what degree can it interface with injection moulding machines and internal processes and how can it help?
What are some key developments and importantly, what benefits can it bring you and your business? And how digitalisation could support the circular economy?
The presentation seeks to outline some of ARBURG's visions in steps towards digitalisation and barriers to embracing it that have been overcome. Completing this will be some insights into innovations in a machine's infrastructure and control technology designed to be predictive and intelligent with the goal of increasing efficiency.
Solving problems before they occur, the eyes of Industry 4.0
Daniel Carillo / Latin America Sales Manager / Intravis
Inspection technology plays a vital part in the Plastic Packaging Industry to prevent product errors or contamination, which could result in high costs and damage to brands, but what do vision systems bring to the table when it comes to industry 4.0? The system explores innovations in plastic packaging inspection with vision technology, and the importance of process data to close the loop and offer the unique possibility for the inspection system to drive process optimization.
Quality upgrade of recycled plastics
Manuela Feuerstein / Sales Manager / Eisbär
When we are talking about recycling plastics, we often have to face the problem that post consumer packagings do have a certain smell left, could be a nice one like a shampoo but could also be a bad one (oil, fish smell etc.) After the regranulation of the PET flakes we still have the problem of the smell, that is coming from so called "VOC"s (volatile organic compounds). Together with Erema, Eisbär developed a system, called Refresher, that is able to remove this VOCs. it'll be shown the whole thematic with the recycling process and also explain the technology.
Visual inspection systems for Caps, Preforms, Bottles; as a digital solution - "Factory Concept"
M.Gerber and G.Kobel / IMDvista
IMD offers on-line product inspection at high or low speed that allows the producer to control and take measures to ensure that the process is of high quality and productive.
Vision inspection is supervised by a software and cameras solutions, which play an essential role for any such a production plant. The software platform solution enables the plant to collect all information on time and therefore avoid false production and the loss of second stage cycles.
Solutions for automation and production efficiency with the latest innovation for visual inspection, applied on caps, preforms or bottles will ensure 100% production quality.
IMD can offer a wide range of OFF-IN-LINE monitoring and inspection systems - for injection or blow moulding technology on existing or new lines, allowing closed loop and short reaction time to production cycles and applications for Industry 4.0.
