Christoph Wynands has more than 13 years of professional expertise in the plastics packaging industry. Prior to joining Sumitomo (SHI) Demag, he worked in technical and product management roles at INTRAVIS, focusing on inspection systems for beverage packaging, and later held commercial responsibility at Avient for their liquid additives business in the PET and recycling industry. Since 2022, he has been Product Manager for High-Performance Injection Moulding Machines at Sumitomo (SHI) Demag. In this role, he is responsible for the global development of high-speed machine platforms and connects customer requirements, application expertise and machine development across the company’s German and Japanese technology network.

He has led international projects across Latin America, Europe, Asia, and North America, receiving global recognition for innovation, business development, and the successful implementation of high-impact industrial solutions.
He is experienced technical speaker, he has presented at industry conferences, trade fairs, customer seminars, and universities on topics including polymer science, plastics processing technologies, sustainability, circular economy, innovation, and the future of the plastics industry.

After completing his studies in mechanical engineering at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Mr. Schiffers earned his doctorate there in the field of injection molding technology. Following his doctorate, he joined the plastics industry in 2009 and worked for KraussMaffei Technologies in Munich in various positions in research and development. In particular, he focused on the digitalization of plastics processing machinery.  Since 2017, he has been head of the Chair of Plastics Machinery at the University of Duisburg-Essen and is active in various roles within the plastics industry; for example, he serves on the scientific advisory board of the K trade fair and on the executive board of Kunststoffland NRW, an industry association.  He has attended the symposium in Brazil twice in recent years and will also be there in person again this September.
